What began as a straightforward kitchen remodel evolved into a first-floor transformation, extending into the dining area, family room, foyer, and powder room. This renovation introduced a cohesive design that balances elegance and practicality. The process began with a complete demolition, clearing out cabinetry, flooring, and outdated fixtures to create a blank slate. White Oak hardwood floors now flow continuously through the kitchen and family room. In the rear entry and powder room, intricate Amalfi Coast tile lends a touch of Italian-inspired sophistication. A highlight of the project is the open, airy kitchen, outfitted with custom cabinetry, refined lighting, and premium countertops. A soapstone island anchors the space, while Taj Mahal quartzite perimeter counters add both luxury and durability. In the dining area, a custom beverage bar takes center stage, seamlessly integrating form and function. The bar features custom cabinetry crafted to compliment the kitchen, topped with quartzite countertops that echo the perimeter workspace. A sleek cast-iron prep sink, complete with brass fixtures and wallpaper behind the open shelves add a unique character to the space. The family room fireplace was reimagined with a minimalist black soapstone hearth and framed by textured plaster walls. The new floating mantel introduces a sense of lightness while providing a sleek display surface. Bullnose edges around the plastered fireplace wall soften its form, blending modern simplicity with subtle craftsmanship. Recessed shelving on either side of the fireplace adds visual interest and storage. This reworked hearth area not only draws the eye but serves as a cozy anchor for the family room seating area. Electrical and plumbing systems were reworked throughout to accommodate the new layout, while architectural enhancements—such as cased openings, recessed lighting, and custom trim—bring continuity to the entire first floor.
